1. Priority Rule for Number Analogy & Series
When solving analogy/series questions, always follow this golden priority order to find the correct pattern:
- 1st Priority: Prime Numbers (Check if numbers are prime or follow a prime operation sequence)
- 2nd Priority: Squares (Look for \(n^2\), \(n^2 \pm k\), or \(n^2 \pm n\))
- 3rd Priority: Cubes (Look for \(n^3\), \(n^3 \pm k\), or combined square/cube series)
- 4th Priority: Multiplication & Division (Form of \(n \times x \pm y\))
- 5th Priority: Addition & Subtraction (Constant or progressive difference)
2. Key Concept Examples
- Square & Cube Alternating Series: \(01 : 08 :: ? : 64\) \(\rightarrow (1^2 : 2^3) :: (3^2 : 4^3) \implies ? = 9\)[cite: 4]
- Multiplication & Addition: \(5 : 23 :: 9 : ? \rightarrow (5 \times 4 + 3 = 23) \implies (9 \times 4 + 3 = 39)\)[cite: 4]
- Sequential Multiplier: \(2, 3, 8, 27, 112, ? \rightarrow (2 \times 1 + 1 = 3, 3 \times 2 + 2 = 8 \dots 112 \times 5 + 5 = 565)\)[cite: 4]
